Common Things
by Turbo Pascal (Berlin)
Freischwimmen
What do the things we accumulate in the course of our lives reveal about our origins, our thinking, the time they originate from?
Frank is in his mid-40s and doesn't like to throw things away. His apartment in Berlin Neukölln is full of things from different phases of his life. Now his father has died and new mementos and heirlooms have been added. What value does this or that thing still have for him or for others? Some of them used to be a central part of his identity, but now he sees them in a different light.
With COMMON THINGS, Turbo Pascal creates a solo in which Frank deals with the different social voices in his head. What should go on the shelf, what is better left in the box, what can or must go in the bin? And what should perhaps be passed on one day? Can the audience help him?
